Marketing & Development Director

Reports to:     Executive Director

Classification: Exempt

Schedule: Full Time

Job Description Summary:

Responsible for securing the necessary funding and community awareness to advance the mission of Therapet. Areas of responsibility include development, planning, execution, and evaluation of all fundraising and public awareness efforts.  Build and maintain strong community relationships. Work with the Executive Director and the Board to ensure the success of the organization.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Works to design strategies to support and ensure the success of all fundraising endeavors and secure targeted recognition in the community.
  • Conduct public awareness initiatives including marketing, internal and external communications, and public awareness materials needed to enhance the visibility of Therapet.
  • Coordinate the organization’s annual fund development plan to meet revenue needs and the goals and objectives of the Board’s strategic plan including: annual giving, endowment and capital campaigns, and fundraising events including Stock the Bar and Totally Unleashed.
  • Conduct all development activities including internal and external event planning, donor engagement strategies, planned giving, and corporate giving.
  • Plan for the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of prospective and existing donors, including conducting donor/prospect research and recommending proposal design and strategies for solicitation.
  • Report on progress toward meeting revenue targets and key development activities.
  • Responsible for donor database, ensuring accurate records are kept on all contributions, with all contributions acknowledged in a timely manner.
  • Publicly represent Therapet with the media and external constituency groups including community and private organizations to build excitement for the mission.
  • Ability to articulate the mission, vision, and values of Therapet in language directed to diverse audiences;
  • Actively participate in meetings of the Marketing, Development, and Unleashed committees, providing strategy and outcome updates.
  • Plan, design, and develop content for print, multimedia, and other development and marketing material.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business or related field preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience, including annual campaigns and/or training in fundraising, marketing, or development preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of fundraising techniques and sources of funding for nonprofit organizations;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, Board members, volunteers, community groups, and other key stakeholders;
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and perform at a high level in a fast-paced team environment, and manage multiple projects to meet timelines and deadlines;
  • Goal-orientated and close attention to detail;
  • Ability to represent Therapet positively and professionally with passion for the mission;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required;
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills;
  • A flexible schedule including the ability to work evenings and weekends, as needed, is required.
  • Understands and supports Therapet’s mission and values.

 Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time. Ability to navigate throughout the East Texas region and travel to and from events as necessary. Must be able to lift a minimum of 30 pounds and to push/pull 50 pounds. Reasonable assistance may be requested when lifting, pushing and/or pulling are undertaken which exceed the minimum requirements.

Operations Coordinator

Reports to:  Executive Director

Classification:   Part-time, Non-exempt

Schedule: 24 hours/week

Job Description Summary:

The Operations Coordinator focuses on the general operations, record-keeping, and clerical duties for Therapet, including, but not limited to: volunteer compliance, donor records, financial statements, filing minutes and reports from Board and committee meetings, requests for community appearances, and training records. The Operations Coordinator also provides assistance with volunteer recruitment, communication and recognition, and with special events as needed.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Support the Executive Director and the Board of Directors in human resources and financial functions
  • Support the Development/Marketing staff and committees in administrative functions, including generating acknowledgment letters, keeping track of donations, and assisting with annual mailings
  • Maintain volunteer files and scheduling system
  • Assist with event and program preparation, planning, and execution
  • Assist with programmatic administration and implementation
  • A/R, A/P, billing, reconciling accounts, reporting via Quickbooks Online
  • Volunteer Management; Volunteer Compliance

Other Responsibilities:

  • Answer the telephone and assist callers as necessary
  • Sort the incoming mail and process any checks
  • Create various reports related to program evaluation and fundraising
  • Prepare packets for monthly Board meetings
  • Assist with special events as needed
  • Social media and website management
  • Provide support to committees as needed
  • Assist in orientation for new and returning volunteers
  • Attend monthly meetings with community members
  • Inventory and ordering
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or higher preferred.
  • Experience with Quickbooks Online, Donor Perfect, Intuit GoPayment, Canva, Illustrator, WordPress preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required.
  • Ability to type at a moderate pace with accuracy required.
  • Ability to operate general office equipment such as computers, printers, copiers, fax machines, scanners, calculators and telephones required.
  • Prior non-profit experience and/or experience working with animals preferred.
  • Highly detail-oriented with ability to prioritize tasks independently, accurately complete work under tight deadlines, and provide timely and accurate responses to requests.
  • Strong oral and written communication, and time and project management skills.
  • Availability to work limited evenings and weekends, typically not more than once per month.
  • Understands and supports Therapet’s mission and values.
